Some of the issues were already fixed by the community thankfully, such as GFWL and graphical effects (via Project Cartographer), but there are still many remaining nowadays. The sound quality was not really on par with OG Xbox in some regards

You would think microsoft would want it to be as perfect as they could get it but.well.īasically, the main reasons why Halo 2 Vista was not so well received back then were:ġ. Some companies just don't want to invest in PC ports and this habit was much worse in the mid-2000's when this would have gone down. Usually it is down the port team working under unreasonable due dates that causes port issues though.

I played 2 on xbox and would guess that a lot of the problems were people trying to install on XP or, god help us all, ME. The people who did get it installed had issues with infinite loading screens, audio desync, no audio at all, bsod (may just be vista being vista), XBL issues (unable to play online or even log in), the classic issues with kb+mouse. I remember a lot of complaining from people trying to get it to install on XP as well, even though vista (directx.10?) was a requirement, this is probably where most of the install issues came from. Some people had trouble getting it installed without workarounds (or at all if they were really unlucky).
